In Absolute Zero, your goal is to have a total of zero in your hand. Each person is dealt 5 cards and on your turn you draw a card and discard a card. You can draw from the draw pile or the top of the discard pile. If, at the end of your turn, your cards add up to zero, you lay them down and call out "Absolute Zero!" The other players then add up the cards in their hands, disregarding the negative signs (aka adding the absolute value of each number), and receive that many points. The person with the least amount of points at the end of the game wins.
Absolute Zero is a great game for learning and practicing addition with negative numbers. Players are constantly calculating and recalculating what they have and what they need in order to win. We really enjoyed this one! To purchase it, head on over to the Games by Absolute Zero website. Be sure to enter the code GAMESCHOOL to receive 10% off your order. Happy gaming!
