Trekking the National Parks
Updated: Jan 3
Trekking the National Parks is a beautifully illustrated game about our country's National Parks. Learn each park's location as well as interesting facts about it and spark a desire to visit some of these amazing places for yourself!
The goal of the game is to get the most points by claiming Parks cards, occupying Major Parks and collecting stones. On your turn, you have two actions that you can use to do any of the following four things: Draw a trek card, Move, Claim a park card, or Occupy a major park. Choose two different actions or do the same action twice.
Trek cards each have a symbol and a number. You can use the number on your trek cards to move. Turn in a "2" of any symbol to move exactly two spaces. If there is a stone on the location you end on, you get to take it and add it to your collection. You use the symbols on the trek cards to claim or occupy parks. For example, to claim Rocky Mountain National Park, you need two mountain cards and two forest cards. Race to its location, turn in your trek cards, read the information about the park aloud, and claim the card (worth 10 points)!
Trekking the National Parks is a fun game to practice geography and learn about some of the science and history in each of our nation's most famous parks. The strategy is light and the game can be played in 30-60 minutes. I would highly recommend this game for both gameschooling and game nights with friends and family. My Game School class really enjoyed it! Purchase Trekking the National Parks today. You'll be glad you did!
Trekking the National Parks also comes with a pamphlet with information about the parks not featured in the game. These parks are marked with small green diamonds on the board. All the beautiful photos were taken by the family who created this game.
